(Ages 10-Adult) In this watercolor class, you’ll paint a variety of birds in their botanical settings, inspired by a youth edition of prints by John James Audubon-the self-taught French-American artist, naturalist, and ornithologist. Using eight Audubon prints as inspiration, you’ll explore both Eastern and Western watercolor techniques to create your own unique versions of Wood Ducks, Passenger Pigeons, Whip-Poor-Wills, Blue Yellow-Black Warblers, Painted Buntings, Bluebirds, Northern Cardinals, and Scarlet Tanagers. Each lesson concludes with a group discussion to share and reflect on your artwork. Prior drawing or watercolor experience is helpful but not required. SUPPLIES: A $30 supply kit can be purchased from the instructor the morning of class. NOTE: ½ hour lunch break from 12:30pm-1:00pm.
